Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

  1. Coat an 8 inch square baking dish with cooking spray

  2. Microwave 3 tablespoons butter in a large microwave safe bowl  until melted for 30 seconds.

  3. Stir in syrup, peanut butter and salt. Microwave again until the mixture is smooth for about 30 to 45 seconds more. 

  4. Stir the mixture and add cereal and mix until combined. Then transfer to the cooking oil sprayed baking dish and mold into an even layer.

  5. Place chopped dark chocolate in a medium bowl and set aside. Grab a small microwave bowl and with the remaining butter microwave for 30-40 seconds. 

  6. Pour melted butter over the chocolate and let stand until it is softened for about 2 minutes. Whisk until smooth. If necessary microwave for 10 seconds more.

  7. Pour chocolate over the cereal mixture and spread evenly. Sprinkle with crushed peanuts.

  8. Refrigerate until the topping is firm for about 1 hour. Cut into squares.
